Microsoft has the potential to be affected by Apple's patent-infringement lawsuit against HTC, an analyst suggested to eWEEK. Apple sued HTC on March 2 for alleged violation of 20 patents related to the iPhone's interface, architecture and hardware. HTC is also a partner with Microsoft on the software giant’s upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series, which will heavily lean on touch-screen devices, which means that a courtroom victory for Apple in the matter could translate into an effect on Microsoft’s strategy as it tries to move the new smartphones to market. Apple is involved in patent-infringement battles with other companies, including Nokia. (Source: Nicholas Kolakowski, eWeek)
