Carrier challenge in the USA – Offering two SIM cards for one phone number

Over the last couple of days I have been tweeting and discussing with my international friends about a solution that we are really missing here in the USA, in comparison with Europe or other Asian countries:

“ Two SIM cards for one mobile phone-number.”

Since I immigrated to USA from Europe,I have had to make a daily decision about which phone I would put my Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in. The carriers in Europe allow you to have two separate SIM cards that use the same phone number.  (Source: Johan van Mierlo and Remo Knops, MobilityMInded)

The strange parallels between Microsoft's century start and decade's end

9. Mobile devices rule the day. Handheld PDAs, many running Palm or Windows CE operating systems, were the hot geek gadgets in 2000, as seen at PC Expo and Comdex trade shows (Anyone remember the first Compaq iPaq?). In 2009, smartphones were so popular that unit sales exceeded laptop sales, according to Gartner. But for smartphones, Microsoft's mobile OS stood behind Apple and Google products for mindshare and geek enthusiasm. (Source: Joe Wilcox, BetaNews)

Five Reasons Why Android Could Kill Windows Mobile

NEWS ANALYSIS: Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system could be the product in the smartphone space that is most vulnerable to the rise of Android, whose market share has steadily climbed over the past year. A variety of factors, ranging from a pairing of the Android OS with the solidly selling Motorola Droid to a positive trend line in Android OS adoption, suggest that Windows Mobile could be squeezed out of the multiple-mobile-device ecosystem unless Mobile 7, rumored to be released sometime in 2010, proves to be the substantial improvement that Microsoft promises.
