Windows Mobile Security and Patch Management

 If you work in Information Technology or have been using Windows on your desktop you are aware that security and patch management are critical tasks that must be addressed especially on any device where you store information.  With Windows Mobile you cannot afford to ignore security and patch management either.   This article provides an overview of the latest in Windows Mobile 5.0 security and patch management.  Also, where appropriate I have included my recommendations to improve security.   As with any recommendation, you must consider what is best for your environment and security requirements. Nokia to offer free mapping software

Nokia plans to start offering the application for free, on Saturday February 10th, for selected Nokia S60 and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices initially and has plans to roll out support for most of the major mobile OS platforms including the full Nokia S60 series, Series 40, PocketPC, Linux and other Windows Mobile devices.  (Source: Dean Pullen, The Inquirer)

SoftMaker Office 2006 for Windows CE: Beta updated

We have released a new beta version of SoftMaker Office 2006 for Windows CE.

If you own a Handheld PC or another Windows CE device, you owe it to yourself to try out SoftMaker Office 2006 and see what a competent Office companion your mobile computer can be.

The beta runs until March 31, 2007 but the final version of SoftMaker Office 2006 for Windows CE will be released well before that.

Andrew Opala has released AO Blackjack (for Pocket PC Windows Mobile 5), a basic single player casino blackjack game with splitting and doubling.

Dealer draws to 16 and holds on 17 or more. Standoffs are paid back to the player. The house pays 3 to 2 odds on all won bets. Strategies for when to stand, draw, double or split are also include in the help system. Set your startup bet amnounts and wallet size anytime bewteen hands. The game engine as closely mimics the odds and rules of the real game as possible (except you can't be thrown out for counting cards).
