Develop Multi-Platform Games for Smartphone, Windows, Linux

Makslane Rodrigues has released Game Editor v. 1.3.3, a powerful Windows game creation application that lets you design and create exciting, interactive games for the Windows, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Smartphone, and Linux markets. You can share your games with family and friends, or sell them commercially, without paying royalty fees to the Game Editor author.

Game Editor gives you the power to create the games of your dreams. With very little programming or technical knowledge, you can design and develop 2D games that will entertain your family, or provide a new source of income as you sell your games across the Internet. Game Editor makes it easy to create arcade, puzzle, board, role-playing, shoot-em-up, jump and run, and side-scroller games. The simple and intuitive interface, plus the rich set of features, let both beginners and experienced game developers design and create games that are fun and exciting.

Creating your new game is a very intuitive process. Dream up a game theme, and place your game actors on the Game Editor screen. Your game is event-driven. You determine what happens whenever a player moves the mouse, clicks an object, or presses a key. You set the rules for collisions. By defining simple or complex paths, you determine the movement of all of the actors on the game screen. You can clone actors, remove them, or render them invisible. In addition to moving objects, you can play sounds and run animations. You're in total control of the look and feel of your game.

You don't have to spend days working on a game that may or may not be fun to play. Game Editor lets you quickly prototype your new game. In very little time, you can develop a basic game, and test its design and playability. By interacting with your prototype game from the outset, you can minimize wasted time and eliminate false starts.

Power users can use the program's Global Code Editor to program advanced actions. The powerful scripting language lets you extend Game Editor's functionality to support unusual and custom game rules.

Once you have fine-tuned and perfected your game, a few mouse clicks let you create versions for Windows, Linux, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, and Smartphones. Unlike companies that collect royalties for each copy of the games that you sell or give away, Game Editor's author lets you create and distribute your games royalty-free.

Whether you're a computer novice who wants to create and distribute a personalized game for family and friends, a serious game player who wants to try creating your own commercial-level game, or an entrepreneur who is considering launching a career in game development and marketing, Game Editor has the tools that you need.

Game Editor v. 1.3.3 runs under Windows 95/98/Me/2000/2003/XP. The program, plus a premium one-year support package, costs $94.95(US). The program without the annual updates is available for $14.95(US). You can purchase Game Editor securely online at http://game-editor.com/. You can download a free 30-day trial version of Game Editor from the company's web site.  (Source: Press Release)

Microth's InPad 2.0 is released

InPad 2.0 Microth, Inc. (www.microth.com) has just released a version 2.0 of their InPad application. InPad is language-independent, fully customizable, fast and accurate handwriting input method for mobile devices supporting Spanish language. Version 2.0 adds a number of new features and improvements: simpler user interface, transparent mode, rectangular cells, build-in layout editor, enchanced symbol customization and demo. Celebrating this event all customers of version 1.0 can upgrade to version 2.0 in December for free.

InPad is a combination of handwriting and keyboard input derived strong sides of both these techniques: a simple, familiar handwriting interface and an instant, accurate keyboard processing. InPad doesn’t "recognize" handwritings - it just "inputs" handwritten symbols into a device like a regular keyboard.

Imagine a soft keypad having a few keys. Write a symbol over this keypad. Inpad will highlight and track a sequence of keys actuated during drawing this symbol. Each stroke of an entered symbol will be represented by a sequence of keys crossed by that stroke. Now we can assign symbols to some key sequences based on symbols' handwriting.

InPad 2.0
For example, symbol 'a' can be assigned to the key sequence {4,3,5,6,4,6}. All assigned key sequences and correspondent symbols are stored in a special dictionary - a layout of InPad. Now we just need find what symbol is assigned to traced sequences in a current layout. That's it. This is a very simple, accurate and fast handwriting input algorithm of InPad.

InPad can be easily adjusted to your own writing style and needs. InPad has different keypad configurations 2*2, 2*3, 3*3 depending on alphabet complexity. InPad's panel can be resized and dragged over the screen. It may be transparent. You can use you finger for input. Download and modify language layouts from www.inpad.net or create your own ones using InPad. InPad supports handwriting input in more then 100 world languages based on Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, Kana scripts.

You can easily add new symbols to layouts, assign as many as needed different handwritings to a symbol, use multistroke symbols, accents and symbol modifications. Strokes can also be assigned to control symbols, commands and text strings. For example, it can be Windows’ 'Copy' and 'Paste' commands, frequent text strings like 'Best regards' or 'the' or even your favorite applications. InPad has imbedded demo functionality and at any moment you can check what handwriting is assigned to a symbol.

InPad takes less then 300K of memory. Average size of a layout is about 12K. (Source: Press Release)

Handmark® Offers The Jewish Study Bible For Palm® and Windows Mobile™ Devices

Esteemed Product Uses TANAKH Translation from The Jewish Publication Society,

Supplemented with Commentary, Essays, and More

KANSAS CITY, MO — (29 November 2005) — Handmark®, a global leader in mobile media, announced today it has released The Jewish Study Bible, a unique presentation of the Bible consistent with the Jewish tradition, for Palm® handhelds, mobile managers, and Treo™ smartphones and Windows Mobile™ Pocket PCs and Smartphones. The Jewish Study Bible incorporates the highest Jewish scholarship along with helpful study aids that make understanding ancient Jewish scripture easier than ever.

Benefiting from the work of nearly forty world-renowned Jewish biblical scholars, The Jewish Study Bible places emphasis on the Torah, key to understanding Jewish experience. The work uses the TANAKH Translation from The Jewish Publication Society (TANAKH is an acronym formed from the Hebrew initials of the three sections into which the Hebrew Bible is traditionally divided: Torah, Instruction; Nevi’im, Prophets; and Kethubim, Writings). Unlike other English translations, the TANAKH translation does not emend the original Hebrew text.

Useful study features of The Jewish Study Bible include bookmark and search features, the ability to jump to specific verses, section and book introductions, and informative essays that address a wide array of topics relative to the Bible’s place in Jewish history and tradition.

"The Jewish Study Bible, published by Oxford University Press, presents the Jewish Bible in a fashion that maximizes personal understanding while meeting the reader’s specific academic needs," said Douglas Edwards, Handmark co-founder and executive vice president. "Oxford University Press has taken great pains to make this important work functional, illuminating, and convenient for use anywhere and in any study situation."

Reflecting the scholarship of a committee of revered Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform Jewish scholars, The Jewish Study Bible offers readers the fruits of various schools of analysis within the Jewish tradition (rabbinic, medieval, mystical, etc.) Despite its intellectual rigor, The Jewish Study Bible requires no knowledge of Hebrew; its presentation and integrated study tools are easily understood by scholar and student alike.

The Oxford Jewish Study Bible requires 4MB of free RAM or expansion media memory and is priced at $39.99 USD. The product is currently available for download; for more information or to purchase The Oxford Jewish Study Bible, visit the Handmark web site, www.handmark.com.

Organize your Business with a Mobile Database

Mention the word database to most people and they cringe. They have visions of massive computers filled with some incomprehensible number of records.

A database does not have to be that complicated. It can be a great help, especially if you can carry it around with you.

In its simplest form, a database is simply a structured way to organize information. This might be a list of customers, sales figures or even how far you drove to meet with a client. Software for your Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC or Smartphone allows you to access and update that information from anywhere and sync it with the data stored on your office computer. Hey Chatter Chatter Chatter!

Just about every morning, my neighbor and I analyze the latest headlines via instant messaging. There's always something one of us is in a tizzy over, be it current politics or celebrity gossip or, well, it could be anything. Every morning, we're the instant message talk show hosts. I sit at my computer, she sits at hers, and we crack each other up as we start our respective days.

The problem is, I can't always be there. I have to jump in the Gizmomobile and run across town for an appointment or head to some office downtown where I'll sit in a waiting room waiting for those magic words, "Mrs. Gizmo, you can come in now." Imagine my excitement when I discovered that my morning chatter could happen anywhere by using my Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Smartphone. I don't need to be at the desktop to chat; I don't even need the laptop. That's because MSN Messenger runs on my Smartphone.

And hey, don't underestimate the usefulness of mobile chat! Just because we use it to make fun of the foibles of celebrities or to analyze the latest news from the White House doesn't mean you can't put instant messaging to better uses.  (Source: 'Mrs. Gizmo', Microsoft Website)

VITO Voice2Go updated for Windows Mobile 5.0

November 28, VITO Technology announces a major update of its favorite voice controlling application VITO Voice2Go. The recently released program has already become very popular on the market and now is concentrated on making its customers’ wishes come true.

VITO Voice2Go is basically purposed at allowing its users to manage their Pocket PCs stylusfree just by talking to their devices. With VITO Voice2Go Pocket PC users can forget about a stylus and start giving their PDAs oral commands in their own languages to:

* start and quit applications
* call their contacts or hang up the phone
* find out who’s calling by listening to a voice tag attributed to this person
* modify system settings
* press any onscreen buttons with voice and record macros.

VITO Voice2Go v1.2 not only has become fully compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0, it still performs on Pocket PCs with WM 2003 and WM 2003 SE flawlessly.

With the updated VITO Voice2Go v1.2 you can:

* minimize the time spent on commands recognition down to 2 seconds

The improved speech recognition engine allows for quicker commands recognition. This long waited for feature was inspired by users’ wishes to shorten the time of commands recognition. To do it you can go to General menu and activate or deactivate the following options: “Play sounds” (responsible for the startup sound when a command is being recognized), “Wait for confirmation”, “Play detected sound command”. Turning off these features speeds up the performance of your commands greatly.

* create a voice command for calling a contact directly from your list of contacts

Now if you tap and hold on a contact in your contacts list in the appearing drop down you can see “assign voice command” line, which immediately brings the selected contact to Voice2Go contacts menu where you can record a voice tag for it.

* German and Japanese languages support;

This is a natural development of VITO Voice2Go on its way to worldwide success since its users can create voice commands in their own languages just the way they like.

* set new funny skins.

All these features will greatly simplify managing your Pocket PC and will bring the interaction with it on a higher quality level..

Since 1999, when it entered the Windows Mobile and Symbian software market, VITO Technology has developed a wide range of software solutions for mobile multimedia, communication, GPS navigation including various utilities.

Having set its goal as achieving the excellence of performance VITO Technology has been making every effort to empower mobile devices by its software to increase their functionality. The case with VITO Voice2Go is one of the best examples of sincere efforts that came true and realized into a must have product. (Source: Press Release)
